This past weekend we got the chance to see Caitlin and Johnny again for their wedding at Heritage Golf Club in Hilliard Ohio and St.Ceceilia Catholic Church! I was so excited to see them since I did their engagement session back in the fall and it feels like forever ago! I loved their engagement session so much since it was on her family’s property and also at the Circleville Fire Department. They were so much fun to be with during their engagement session, and their wedding was even more fun!
On their wedding day, I started with Caitlin at her family’s home in Hilliard and Scott was a couple miles away starting with the guys at their house. Caitlin was so excited that it was going to be a cool day! That is not something you would normally think about for a May wedding. But, if you remember, last week we had two days where it hit almost 90 degrees! We would rejoice with that weather and temperature in July or August, but May? I was actually shooting two engagement sessions on both of those 90 degree days, so I was just as excited as Caitlin and Johnny for a cool day in the 70s.
I loved the fact that she got ready at her Grandparents’ home. Not only is it a gorgeous house that gives me serious patio envy, it was the perfect spot for all the girls to get ready and share each other’s company. Everyone was in the kitchen or the patio off the kitchen, which made it a perfect social space for getting ready. Caitlin’s sister did her gorgeous hair and put in an adorable rose-shaped gold hair clip. I actually had Caitlin put her dress on in the foyer because it was a perfect, open space where all her bridesmaids could watch, and it was easy to clean up. I had plans to take her outside to finish zipping up her dress and put on her jewelry, but we had a quick little thunderstorm roll in and I wanted to make sure that her dress stayed dry! The foyer was a great alternative to being outside since they had a large front door that let in tons of light. Johnny got her an adorable necklace that fit perfectly with her dress! It looked gorgeous on her! I don’t think anyone could wait to see what Johnny’s reaction would be when he saw his beautiful bride walk down the aisle!
Speaking of Johnny’s reaction, it was so perfect. We do not have too many grooms shed tears, but seeing Caitlin walk down the aisle brought tears to his eyes because she looked so gorgeous; a perfect bride. I don’t think their ceremony could have been any more heartfelt than it was. They were surrounded by friends and family that all love and adore them. After the ceremony, we headed over to Heritage Golf Club for the reception!
We shot the wedding party close to the clubhouse as Heritage Golf Club has this great little fence area. There were golfers playing, but I have a sneaky suspicion that they know on Saturdays there will most likely be a bride and groom on a hole or two! The golfers were all so courteous of us photographing! Caitlin and Johnny’s wedding party was amazing. They all love Caitlin and Johnny so much, and were on top of getting where we needed to be for each picture. We arrived about 15 to 20 minutes late, so we had a bit of a time crunch to get the pictures done and they were great at listening and following instructions! I love wedding parties that are able to listen for the 15 minutes it takes for pictures while still being able to have fun and enjoy the time. Their wedding party did an excellent job at this! One thing I loved about Caitlin and Johnny that made their wedding day special for their guests was their gift to their family and friends. They made wine and bottled it for all of their guests! They made the wine last year, so it had a good year to age and looked awesome!
When we were finished with the wedding party, we were able to take the golf carts out with Caitlin and Johnny to a couple of holes on the course. We found this adorable little grove of trees that perfectly diffused the spring sun since it was about 5 p.m. at this time. Sunset is around 8:40 right now, so we were still several hours away from golden hour. We did have several clouds and storms nearby, so between the little grove of trees and the clouds, the lighting was perfect at that spot.
I have to say, portrait time with Caitlin and Johnny was one of my favorite parts of the day! They are so much in love and their adoration for each other just comes to life when they are together. Johnny knows how to make Caitlin laugh and they naturally just go from joyful laughing to snuggling in for a romantic shot. I loved photographing them so much!! Scott got adorable photos of them, too, but he was on car duty for part of the session! Some of the bridges we were on are actually car bridges on the course, so Scott was watching out for cars and on the lookout for who was teeing off, and from where! He kept us all safe from cars and flying golf balls!
I could go on and on about how much we loved photographing Caitlin and Johnny’s wedding, but this blog post does have to end. Thank you so much, Caitlin and Johnny, for letting us spend the day with you, your family and your friends. We had a blast the entire day getting to know everyone and seeing how much everyone loves you two. I am so excited for you to see all of your images!
