Photographing your Invitation Suite

I love photographing the invitation suite for our couples. I feel like it is an important aspect of the wedding day, and part of telling your wedding story. The invitation suite can include things like a Save the Date card, the actual wedding invitation, RSVP card, meal cards, thank you cards and accommodations, all with corresponding envelopes.

The Save the Date is normally the first glimpse your family and friends see of your wedding colors, the venue and more. If you didn’t send out a Save the Date card it is totally fine. The wedding invitation then becomes the first glimpse your guests will see of what you’ve planned for your wedding ceremony and reception.

I love to preserve the invitation suite in photographs because it is good to have pictures of the invitation in case anything ever happens to the original keepsake invitation you two have, plus it is a great added element to your wedding album. Make sure you remember to keep an invitation for yourself! You will want it! I have our wedding invitation and save the date card in our wedding box. A lot of our couples put the invitation in a picture frame, a memory box, or display it in their house along with their other wedding items.

There are two ways to make sure I am able to photograph your Save the Date card and full wedding invitation suite.

One way is for you to mail me both the Save the Date card and the wedding invitation suite. You can easily mail these items a month to two months before the wedding in a box so they do not get bent. Once I get the invitations I will do a mini-shoot at my house to make sure I have images of the invitation. I will then bring the invitation to your wedding day.

This lets me get pictures of other details on your wedding day that include the invitation in the image. If you ask your florist for a couple of extra sprigs of greenery from your bouquets or a couple of extra filler flowers from your bouquet I can also incorporate them into your invitation suite pictures.

The second way is to bring the save the date card and wedding invitation to your wedding yourself. A lot of my brides have what I call “The Detail Box“. This box can be anything from a plastic bin to a tote bag or any other carry all you can fit everything in! The Detail Box contains exactly what it sounds like – all your wedding details – It has your wedding shoes, wedding rings, jewelry, garter, perfume, invitation, your something borrowed, something blue, something old and something new.

When I arrive on your wedding day you can easily just give me your Detail Box and in about 10 minutes I’ll have all your details photographed. Then we’ll be ready to rock the rest of the day. The invitation can be placed into this box ahead of the wedding day when you are gathering up all of your items. This lets me shoot the invitation with all of your details on your wedding day without mailing the invitation to me a couple months before the day. Don’t forget to ask your florist for a couple of sprigs of greenery from your bouquet, or extra filler flowers.

I can’t wait to see your wedding invitation! If you need any help selecting a calligrapher or a paper crafter, let me know. I can send over some of my favorites!
